The Next Step: Port Douglas

Arrived in Cairns after a 3 hour journey although the new-time zone gave me back an hour. A reasonably OK journey although the cost of food on Jetstar is high. A toastie cheese and ham with a can of drink = $15.00. A shuttle bus driven by what seemed an octogenarian took us 1 hour and here I am at the Meridian Hotel. Friendly introduction from the owner John and room is clean and cool. Pool downstairs looks very inviting at the moment. Temperature is 31C
Will explore the town when I find it.
